#anton lundell#florida panthers#hugging the cup like shes my lover#okay dweeb#anytime i remember these guys where fuckin around on biscayne bay like every other tourist i admittedly become a little less crabby about i#pretty common tourist activity especially in the summer#so you will always hear a NYOOOOOMMM if you drive by#but the bay usually has speed boats cruiseships coming out of it since bayside and the port of miami are right there#the jetski dock is on the opposite end of all that so like no traffic jams—#anyways i wont yam the tags off with bay stuff#just all you need to know its a very cheesy touristy thing for residents who live nearby#and it makes me giggle a little bit that they did indulge in the oh so infamous jetski tours

hiiii do you have recs for things to do/places to eat in Tokyo?
matter of fact i do anon! im not sure what you like but i’ll do a couple of different kinds (disclaimer: i dont like going to viral places as much as possible):
restaurants:
yakiniku - a chain called yakinikulike! there should be multiple locations everywhere. a very affordable yakiniku /japanese bbq where u have your own grill and you can order different types of meat. my fave for a quick and cheap eat!
sukiyaki - kyutaro! this is on the pricier side (9,000-10,000 yen) because its wagyu beef but it’s worth it in my opinion, the meat was so tender and buttery 🤤
beef cutlet - motomura gyukatsu, sadly this is a viral chain but i think its worth the hype? i would go to locations outside the busy areas like shinjuku / shibuya to avoid long line up
sushi - sushi kaiten ginza or touryumon sushi ginza onodera, i missed to go to these last time and so i will go this time! ive heard great things about these two locations!
things to do / neighbourhoods to check:
kichijoji (a cute little nontouristy area, ghibli museum is nearby but my fave is inokashira park), daikanyama/nakameguro (river for cherry blossoms, also great for lowkey shopping), cat street (for shopping), nakano broadway (heaven for anime lovers aside from akihabara lol), yoyogi (quiet little area filled with independent cool stores and restaurants).
oh i forgot to say for daikanyama, there is a miffy cafe there and this denim store where you can customize japanese denim called betty smith jeans! for this you need to book an appointment and no walk ins.
i would only go to shibuya to go to magnet 109 to visit the one piece store with shanks and sanji’s full size statue 🤭
also final thing to mention: i love eating dinner with food from either a convenience store or like takeout at shibakoen and just chill on the grass with the tokyo tower view!

Oh ya speaking of sewing. Updates to old projects I forgot to post: new blouse & apron for the dirndl, and I added a smocked panel + some barely visible blue embroidery at the hem to Ephy’s pink dress
#sewing#dirndl#elfilin#I made the new blouse and apron like over a year ago LOL#I had originally wanted to make them out of eyelet cotton but got cotton gauze when I was buying materials because it was way cheaper#Mistake. Turns out I hate that stuff and it’s soooo bad for poofy sleeves#and I didn’t finish my edges all that great so I was scared it would disintegrate if I ever tried to wash it#so last summer I finally got some eyelet cotton and remade them#I think I never posted the finished Ephy dress because I wanted to also make a bow to go with it#haven’t done that yet though and it’s been awhile#I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to wear the dirndl again nowadays without remaking the blouse again (for reasons)#but I did get to wear it on our honeymoon!! we went to a little German-themed touristy town and had a fancy dinner and went shopping#we also did hiking and an amusement park. and Pokémon go#and a lot of driving lol#also yes that smocking is incredibly tiny#I wasn’t sure it would even be physically possible at that size but it worked out yippee!!

My sister has been on my case about all these little things that could go wrong on our UK trip because apparently Mercury is in retrograde...but when I mentioned that she should take precautions with her phone while there because of pickpockets, she was surprised? And told me not to stress her out? I asked her, "How are you more worried about the POSITIONS OF PLANETS instead of ACTUAL PEOPLE?"

just realized a month from now i’m gonna be on my minneapolis trip and seeing fob oughhhhhghh!!!!

it's fall and so I miss Boston! Eliot Tower my friend Eliot Tower... it's been so many years......

I'm flying to NYC on Monday. Which sounds fun in theory. In actuality I'm going to be wandering around underfunded hospitals in Brooklyn trying to track down computers and fervently hoping they're able to spare a local who a) vaguely knows the layout of said hospitals and b) can vouch for the okay-ness of me wandering them. Also I have been deathly ill for the last week and a half.
How do I get myself into these situations and how can I stop doing it.

working on my Sunday In New York (1963) playlist and while I have issues with that movie I do also have great affection for it and this is shaping up to be a real good playlist
#my playlists#the idea of 'sensibilities' has been on my mind a lot lately#and it's an important thing in these playlists#and one of the reason i think a lot of the sorta fandom playlists#with like taylor swift on every movie#just doesn't work#like not just style of music#but there's a sensibility to all of these movies#and i really try to capture that when i make a playlist#and for stuff set in NYC it's real fun to reflect that too#in my#adam's rib 1949 playlist#i use a lot of broadway from the era#bc like these were rich new yorkers#they probably saw kiss me kate and the other big shows of that year#in Sunday In New York the city itself is more of a character#like they go rowing in the park#we take a bus#ice skating at Rockefeller center#it's much more new yorky - or at least touristy new yorky#so the playlist gets to be too!
